Description
A Seal Named Patches takes young readers on an exciting adventure to the bottom of the globe. Scientists Roxanne Beltran and Patrick Robinson embark on a polar expedition to study Weddell seals, with the goal of finding their special seal, Patches.
By tracking Patches since its birth, the scientists hope to learn more about the seal's diet and how it raises its pups. Along the way, they share breathtaking photos and real-life stories that showcase the challenges of researching animals in harsh climates. This engaging story is perfect for children aged 5-8.
Through their journey, young readers will gain a deeper understanding of fieldwork, the importance of studying animals in extreme environments, and even what it's like to fly a helicopter over Antarctica. With its unique blend of science, adventure, and photography, A Seal Named Patches is an entertaining and educational read for early learners.
