Description

A Golden Opportunity: A Pride and Prejudice Variation by J Marie Croft is a novella-length adaptation of Jane Austen's beloved novel. Fitzwilliam Darcy finds himself at Rosings Park for an additional ten days, required to attend a private ball in celebration of Miss Anne de Bourgh's birthday. As the days progress, he becomes increasingly alarmed by strange happenings and Lady Catherine's reports of her cousin's transformation. It appears that Miss Anne has thrown off her earlier meekness, displaying unprecedented liveliness and rebellion. Darcy soon discovers that there is also a mystery of thievery or vandalism occurring in the house, with precious items being pilfered or damaged. His days are further complicated when he realizes he may have a rival for Elizabeth's affection, a young gentleman who owns an estate near Rosings. Amidst the potential scandal and heartache, Darcy must untangle his misunderstandings with Elizabeth to avoid disaster. This novella-length variation offers a fresh take on Austen's story of love and misunderstanding.
