Description
A Fleeting Moment in My Country: The Last Years of the LTTE De-facto State by N. Malathy This book provides a unique insight into the Tamil liberation cause and struggle, offering a compelling account of the motivations, issues, and complexities of this largely secret civil war. Written from a personal perspective, it draws on the author's first-hand observations and sociological insights to describe life inside Tamil-controlled territory during a period of relative peace. The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam (LTTE) created a progressive internal movement that broke down ancient caste barriers and promoted social justice and equality. However, this fragile balance was disrupted when the Sri Lankan army overran the area, leading to the destruction of everything described in the book. A personal and thought-provoking account of life in a war-torn region, A Fleeting Moment in My Country offers a nuanced understanding of the complexities of the Tamil struggle.
