Description
A Billion Black Anthropocenes Or None by Kathryn Yusoff explores how geology is intertwined with colonialism and slavery. This book examines the politics of the Anthropocene through the lens of race, materiality, deep time, and the afterlives of geology. Yusoff initiates a transdisciplinary conversation between feminist black theory, geography, and earth sciences to address the issues at hand. A Billion Black Anthropocenes Or None is part of Forerunners, a series that brings together fresh ideas and finished works in a thought-in-process format. This type of publishing allows for intense thinking, change, and speculation to take place in scholarship. By tracing the color line of the Anthropocene, Yusoff sheds light on how our understanding of the earth is shaped by colonialism and slavery.
