Description

The Royal Navy's dramatic rescue mission to save the crew of a trapped Russian submarine is told in 72 Hours.

In August 2005, a secret mission to an underwater military installation off Kamchatka's coast ended in disaster when the Russian submersible AS-28 became stuck fast. With limited air supply and freezing water above, there was no escape for the seven crew members trapped inside their titanium tomb.

The rescue effort involved international assistance from the US and Japan, as well as the expertise of Commander Ian Riches and his team from the Royal Navy's Submarine Rescue Service. This gripping account recounts the harrowing 72 hours that followed, as the crew struggled to survive against all odds.
