Description
Set in a dystopian future, We is a thought-provoking novel by Yevgeny Zamyatin. Written between 1920 and 1921, it reflects the author's growing disillusionment with the Communist Party of the Soviet Union during the Russian Civil War.
In this totalitarian society, individuals live under constant surveillance, their lives controlled by the Benefactor and his operatives. The story follows D-503, an engineer who begins to question the rules he has followed his whole life after meeting a free-spirited woman named I-330. As he struggles to balance his duty to the state with his newfound feelings, D-503 moves closer to the limits of law and life.
Published in 2021 by Mint Editions, this paperback edition features a fresh, professionally typeset manuscript and a new cover, showcasing the book's enduring themes and ideas. With its exploration of individuality and freedom in a controlled society, We remains a powerful and thought-provoking work of science fiction.
