Inherited by Ned Lambton and his wife Marina, the estate was lovingly restored as a retreat for family and friends. The villa's story begins with Cardinal Flavio Chigi, who expanded a modest farmhouse into the villa in the late seventeenth century. The property changed hands several times before being acquired by Lord Antony Lambton, Ned's father, who cultivated its reputation as one of Italy's most beautiful homes. Recent restoration work has preserved the original character of the house while introducing new gardens and interiors. With newly commissioned photographs by Simon Upton, Villa Cetinale brings to life the villa's history, redecoration, and raucous past, offering a unique glimpse into the world of this iconic Italian estate.
