Ukraine Diary

Henri Nouwen's Ukraine Diary is a deeply personal and prophetic work that reflects his profound connection with the Ukrainian people. In 1993-94, Nouwen made two trips to Ukraine, leading retreats and observing the resurgence of the Ukrainian Catholic Church. He saw in this country a hunger for hope and healing, and a need for the life-giving message that he believed could bring solace. Nouwen's experiences in Ukraine had a profound impact on him, and it is only now, with the publication of his diary, that the full meaning of these observations may become clear. This book offers a unique glimpse into Nouwen's spiritual insights and his understanding of the human condition. With its message of hope and healing, Henri Nouwen's Ukraine Diary remains a powerful and timely work. In this previously unpublished work, Nouwen shares his thoughts on the spiritual and moral qualities that he saw in Ukraine, and how these qualities continue to resonate today. The book is introduced by Borys Gudziak, Archbishop-Metropolitan for the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia, who notes its significance as a "subtle tale of how encounter genuinely and radically changes the lives of people".
