Description

The Surface Effect: The Screen of Fantasy in Psychoanalysis André Nusselder explores the role of fantasy in shaping our understanding of self and reality. This book examines the space between individual inner life and social outer life, revealing how fantasy operates from the beginning. Based on the work of Jacques Lacan, Nusselder elaborates on Lacan's theory of fantasy as a fundamental process for studying the human mind's composite function of language, body, and social world. The book analyses fantasy as a medium operating between anxiety and excess, focusing on its role in psychoanalysis and reflections on mediation and new media. This book will appeal to those interested in psychoanalysis, philosophy, cognitive science, and new media, film, culture, and literature.
