Description
Sergeant Sam Walker knew that the war was ending, and he didn't want to die in this hole of a prisoner of war camp. His best friend, Joe, who had been fighting alongside him for all of the seemingly unending war, was now close to death in his native state. Joe's final request was for Sam to visit his home and ensure that his wife and baby girl were okay. Sam promised to make it out of the camp and return to his loved ones, a promise he knew Joe didn't believe would be kept. After Joe slipped away, Sam vowed to fulfill this promise, no matter how long it took. Sam's determination to keep his promise drives the story forward, as he navigates the challenges of the post-war world and confronts the harsh realities of life after conflict.
