Description
The Samaritans A Profile by Reinhard Pummer This comprehensive introduction to the Samaritan tradition explores the people identified as Samaritans in both biblical and nonbiblical sources. By examining literary, epigraphic, and archaeological sources, as well as their history, geographical distribution, version of the Pentateuch, rituals, customs, and current situation, Reinhard Pummer sheds light on a community that views themselves as the true Israelites. A small but distinct group, the Samaritans have lived in Palestine and Israel for thousands of years, preserving unchanged the revelation given to Moses in the Torah. This book provides an authoritative overview of their unique heritage, making it an invaluable resource for anyone seeking to understand this fascinating community. With no better introduction available on the subject, this book is a valuable resource for scholars and enthusiasts alike.
