Description

All is quiet in Moscow. The streets are deserted, except for the sound of bells from church towers and the occasional creak of wheels as night-cabmen make their way through the snow-covered street. A lone carriage stands at the curb, its light still visible through a chink in the shutter of Chevalier's Restaurant. As morning approaches, workmen begin to stir, but for those who live among the gentlefolk, it is still evening. The city is bathed in an eerie silence, broken only by the soft glow of wax candles reflected on the icons in the church. In this tranquil scene, a sense of unease lingers, waiting to be revealed.
