Description
Swimming Pool by Ágnes Lehóczky is a poem that defies easy categorization. It explores the complexities of language and meaning, layering words and concepts to create a rich tapestry of thought. The poem's use of imagery and metaphor is deliberate and calculated, never settling for simplicity or clarity. Instead, it revels in the ambiguities of human experience, where opposites are not mutually exclusive, but intertwined. This is reflected in Lehóczky's innovative approach to grammar and syntax, which blurs the lines between noun and verb. At its core, Swimming Pool is a poem about the fluidity of language and the instability of meaning. It invites the reader to immerse themselves in its complexities, where nothing is as it seems, and every image is layered with multiple meanings.
