Description
Some Maintenance Required by Marie-Renée Lavoie is a tender coming-of-age story that explores the complexities of growing up. In 1993, Laurie's life is marked by her part-time job at a restaurant, her care for her neglected neighbour Cindy, and her struggles to maintain her car. As she navigates these challenges, Laurie develops a budding romance that opens her eyes to class differences and a more complicated world. With her big heart, Laurie takes Cindy on globe-trotting adventures without leaving town, learning valuable lessons about responsibility and coming to terms with circumstances beyond her control. This story of self-discovery is both humorous and impressive, showcasing the author's skill at making readers fall in love with her characters.
