Description
This book presents a comprehensive overview of Gestalt therapy, tracing its roots in philosophy to its practical applications in psychotherapy. Peter Philippson explores the intersection of psychology and philosophy, revealing how these two disciplines can inform and enrich each other.
Philippson's work is both a tribute to the early Gestaltists who pioneered this approach and a contribution to ongoing discussions about human development and the nature of self. The book includes examples from Philippson's own therapy practice, as well as speculative chapters on client development and appendices featuring writing from clients.
Through its exploration of these themes, Self in Relation offers insights into the complexities of human experience and the potential for psychotherapy to facilitate growth and self-awareness.
