Description
Aeschylus: Prometheus Bound This drama is a powerful retelling of the myth of fire stolen from the gods. In this version, Hesiod's morality tale has been transformed into a tragic story of proportions. The play explores plot and characters, dramatic technique, style and metre, making it suitable for students of drama and literature. A commentary guides the reader through problems of language, metre and content, while an appendix provides the existing fragments of two other plays in the supposed Prometheus trilogy, with accompanying commentary. This volume is a valuable resource for undergraduates and scholars alike, requiring no prior knowledge of Greek to understand its significance. The introduction offers insight into the play's production and authenticity, making it a useful addition to any collection of classical drama.
