Description

Pompey Casmilus's life is marked by turmoil in 1936. Her love affair with Freddy has ended, and she's struggling to cope with the growing threat of German militarism. Feeling lost and alone, she's prescribed six months of rest and recuperation.

Instead, Pompey finds herself at Schloss Tilssen on the northern German border, where she becomes embroiled in a strange and unlikely group of conspirators. There's Mrs Pouncer, the enigmatic plum-coloured woman; Colonel Peck, the absent-minded military officer; and Major Tom Satterthwaite, the dashing young man who captures Pompey's heart.

This poignant and powerful novel explores themes of love, loss, and identity in the face of uncertainty. With its vivid characters and gripping plot, Stevie Smith's Over the Frontier is a compelling read for fans of literary fiction.
