Description

Older Brother is a poignant exploration of a Franco-Syrian family's struggles to integrate into French society. The father, an atheist communist who has worked tirelessly as a taxi driver for decades, faces challenges from his own children and the changing world around him. His eldest son, working as a driver for an app-based car service, finds himself at odds with his father over the future of their livelihoods. Meanwhile, the younger son, a nurse in a French hospital, becomes increasingly disillusioned with the rejections he encounters in society before embarking on a journey to help wounded civilians in Syria. As Guven masterfully weaves together the complexities of contemporary life and the gravity of terrorist threats, he sheds light on the lives of those caught between their personal aspirations and the harsh realities of the world around them.
