Description
This close study of the Acts narrative analyzes Luke's story of the first Christians in light of ancient rhetorical conventions. Daniel McGinnis argues that Luke presents his stories to strengthen the missional commitment and practice of his readers.
The author examines how Luke structures his mission content using a body analogy, dividing it into rhetorical instruction about stimuli, strategies, and suffering. McGinnis also explores how Luke depicts suffering as an integral part of the mission, seeking to prepare his readers to face opposition.
By reading Acts through a primary missional lens, this book offers innovative insights into Luke's narrative and its enduring relevance for Christian practice today.
