Description
Case Study House #22 is one of the most iconic images of 20th-century architecture. Designed by American architect Pierre Koenig, this building's sleek lines and streamlined glass and steel evoke the twinkling city below.
Koenig was a leading figure in the Modern movement, championing socially responsible design and buildings that responded to their surroundings. His innovative use of prefabricated materials allowed for spatial freedom in affordable houses, while his designs optimised the relationship between inside and outside through windows, water, terraces, skylights, and glazing.
This book introduces an architect who was pioneering in method and material, iconic of his time, and driven by a spirit of experimentalism. Through Koenig's major projects, including the Johnson House and Oberman House, this publication sheds light on an architect whose work continues to inspire and influence architecture today.
