Description
July is a powerful and deeply personal collection of poetry from Kathleen Ossip, exploring her responses to America in all its complexity. With a unique voice that ranges from elegant to straightforward, Ossip meditates on the country's various responses to itself.
The book's crowning achievement, "July", is a 50-page poem that recounts a road trip from Bemidji, MN to Key West, FL with her daughter. Inspired by images seen through the car window and nurtured by intimate conversation, this poem has an entertaining cinematic sweep. Ossip also explores themes of doubt and confusion in her work.
This is a collection that will appeal to readers interested in poetry and American culture, and those looking for a thought-provoking exploration of identity and place.
