Description

Sammy Davis Jr. was an entertainment icon and national treasure, beloved by millions. Yet, despite his impressive earnings, he died in 1990 near bankruptcy. His wife, Altovise, who had once been part of one of the greatest entertainment legacies of the twentieth century, found herself living in poverty. A former federal prosecutor, Albert "Sonny" Murray, was asked to help resolve Sammy's debts and restore his estate. Over seven years, Sonny delved into Sammy's life, uncovering a complex and troubled individual. This book tells the extraordinary story of an international celebrity whose talent couldn't save him from himself. Through Deconstructing Sammy, we gain insight into the life of a man who was both celebrated and tormented by his own demons.
