Description

Jacob Sam-La Rose's debut chapbook Communion is a testament to his skill as a poet. This 38-page collection showcases his unique ability to find comfort and awe in everyday life, transforming the familiar into something new and exciting. Through his poems, Sam-La Rose explores subtle relationships and innovative forms, earning praise for his "brave and often audacious willingness to experiment". A standout feature of Communion is its small volume of 17 poems, accompanied by a five-poem suite that pays tribute to his childhood passion for basketball. As a poet and educator with a background in the British Council and various literature festivals, Sam-La Rose brings a wealth of experience to this work.
