Description
Cirencester Before Corinium Excavations at Kingshill North
Uncover the secrets of Cirencester's prehistoric past with this in-depth excavation report. In 2008, Oxford Archaeology excavated a site on the north-eastern edge of Cirencester, revealing evidence of occupation dating back to the late Neolithic period.
The discovery includes storage pits filled with decorated Grooved Ware, bone pins and awls, flint tools, stone axe fragments, animal bones, antler, and burnt remains of cereal, nuts, and fruit. The site also yielded two Beaker burials and a cremation burial from the Roman period, highlighting the complex history of human burial practices in the region.
