Description
A full moon casts an eerie glow over the dark waters of the Mississippi. This is the time for hunters to arrive and capture their prey, using a device that renders them unable to shift back into human form. The Krelk have killed more than two-thirds of the human population, claiming they were also animals. As I heard the first yelp, even from beneath my cave, I couldn't breathe. It was followed by another and then a third - no shifter could take on a Krelk and survive. Terrified but curious, I cautiously emerged to investigate. A dead Krelk dropped into the water nearby, making me jump with fear. A humanoid figure appeared at the river bank above my head, sending me scrambling back into the water. Despite his appearance, he claimed to have killed all the Krelk. He offered words of reassurance and promised to patrol further down the river tonight, giving me a chance to hide in safety.
