Description
Little Bear's world has been turned upside down. His big, strong friend Big Bear was caught in a forest fire and escaped with his life, but something is not quite right. When ordinary things happen in the woods that remind him of that traumatic day, Little Bear sees fear in Big Bear's eyes. This gentle story introduces young readers to the common feelings of fear, anxiety, and anger that can follow a traumatic event. It shows how to have empathy and compassion for oneself and for loved ones experiencing the effects of trauma. With support from a family therapist, Joanna Rowland explores what it means to be a good friend in times of need. The book includes helpful information on how to talk about trauma with children, making it a valuable resource for families and caregivers.
