Description
Before Virtue explores the diverse landscape of contemporary virtue ethics, a philosophical approach that has evolved from the work of George R.R. Anscombe.
The author, Jonathan J. Sanford, examines how different authors and thinkers have reinterpreted Anscombe's ideas, resulting in varying degrees of fidelity to his original vision.
Sanford assesses these approaches against the dual standard set by Anscombe himself: the extent to which they avoid the pitfalls of modern moral philosophy, and their success in recovering an Aristotelian approach to ethics.
