Description

American Indian Stories is a collection of childhood stories, allegorical fiction, and an essay that showcases the life and experiences of its author. Written by Zitkala-Sa, one of the most famous Sioux writers and activists of her time, this book offers a unique perspective on Yankton Sioux culture and traditions.

Through her writing, Zitkala-Sa creatively bridged the gap between her own culture and mainstream American society, advocating for Native rights on a national level. This edition features a new introduction by Susan Rose Dominguez, providing context and insight into this important work.

This collection of stories and essays is a valuable resource for anyone interested in understanding the experiences of Native Americans during the early 20th century.
