Description

A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare is a spirited play that has been adapted for new audiences. Jeffrey Whitty offers his modern take on the Bard's work, matching line for line and rhyme for rhyme while illuminating the meaning for contemporary readers. This adaptation brings a fresh perspective to the original story, designed to flow as effortlessly as Shakespeare's beloved classic. Whitty's version of A Midsummer Night's Dream is part of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Play On! project, which commissioned new translations of thirty-nine Shakespeare plays. These volumes present the work in language accessible to modern audiences while preserving the beauty of Shakespeare's verse. This translation makes the play available for the first time in print, offering a new First Folio for a new era.
