Description
Oscar Wilde's Salome is a groundbreaking and provocative play that continues to spark controversy and debate. Written in French, it was described by one reviewer as "an arrangement in blood and ferocity, morbid, bizarre, repulsive," yet its impact on modern theatre cannot be denied. This edition features the English translation done by Lord Alfred Douglas, with Wilde's own oversight and correction. The appendices provide valuable insights into the play's sources and its reception during its time, making this a fascinating read for those interested in Wilde's work and the history of drama.
