Description
Landscapes After Ruskin: Redefining the Sublime explores how contemporary artists are redefining our relationship with nature in response to environmental uncertainty. This striking volume features over 50 artworks by renowned artists, including Georg Baselitz, Joseph Beuys, and Ai Weiwei, as they probe the modern sublime through essays and photographs. The book delves into a range of subjects, from steel factories in nature parks to aerial views of bombed cities, and from mutating chromosomes to construction sites in suburbia. By examining these contemporary sites, artists and experts in environmental studies and philosophy offer compelling insights into the truth of the natural world today. Through its diverse range of artworks and perspectives, Landscapes After Ruskin provides a thought-provoking examination of our place within the natural world, inviting readers to consider the complex relationships between humanity and the environment.
